Basketball Game Preview: Mission San Jose Warriors vs. Watsonville Wildcatz

The Mission San Jose Warriors and the Watsonville Wildcatz will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Mission San Jose lost to Livermore on the road by a 59-44 margin. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 516th, while the Cowboys are ranked 190th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Watsonville). They breezed by King City to the tune of 92-52 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Wildcatz have posted since December 20, 2023.

Watsonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points per game. As for Mission San Jose, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Mission San Jose strolled past Watsonville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 60-45. Does Mission San Jose have another victory up their sleeve, or will Watsonville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
