Baseball Recap: Cardinal Spellman Takes a Loss

Cardinal Spellman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 9-4 to the West Bridgewater Wildcats. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 12-5.

Jeremy Schapansky was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. John Petruzzo was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Cardinal Spellman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for West Bridgewater, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cardinal Spellman will welcome Bishop Stang at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for West Bridgewater, they will be playing at home against Fairhaven at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
