Basketball Recap: Merrillville Skates Past New Prairie with Ease

Merrillville posted their biggest win since December 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the New Prairie Cougars 68-28. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 50.6 points per game.

Kylie Wells continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 12 for 16 on her way to 25 points. Those 25 points gave her a new career-high. Vivian Mcspadden was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven boards and three steals.

Merrillville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why New Prairie lost, don't look at Lilli Armato. Despite the final result, she posted eight points. Armato is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played.

Merrillville's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-5. As for New Prairie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Merrillville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-36 victory against La Porte on the 13th. As for New Prairie, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 63-28 loss against Elkhart on the 13th.
