Recap: New Roads Jaguars vs. Vistamar Vikings
The New Roads Jaguars were the 53-43 winner over the Vistamar Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. New Roads received a tough blow on Thursday as they fell 56-37 to Vistamar.
It was another big night for Isaiah Hill, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds for Vistamar. Hill is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Lagao, who scored 14 points.
New Roads' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-6. As for Vistamar, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Roads will challenge California Academy of Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vistamar won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lennox Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Lennox Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1219th, while Vistamar is ranked 566th).
