Basketball Game Preview: Washington County Golden Hawks vs. Central Chargers

Washington County hasn't had much luck against Central recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 4:00 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Washington County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

On Friday, Washington County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Dodge County.

Despite the defeat, Washington County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jade Kitchens went 9-for-21 en route to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kitchens has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aeria Hagans, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Central lost to East Laurens on the road by a 66-52 margin on Friday.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Washington County, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Washington County came up short against Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 34-30. Can Washington County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
