Softball Recap: East Allegheny Sets Scoring Season-High Against Brentwood

East Allegheny scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brentwood Spartans. The defeat leaves the Wild Cats still looking for their first win of the season.

Mercedes Benz put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Benz wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mylayja Hicks, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Jaden Romanelli also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

East Allegheny's record now sits at 0-6. As for Brentwood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Looking ahead, East Allegheny will look to defend their home field on Thursday against South Park at 3:45 p.m. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Wild Cats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Brentwood, they will venture away from home to square off against Springdale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
