Football Preview: Southbridge Pioneers vs. Blackstone-Millville Chargers
After each having a week off, the Southbridge Pioneers and the Blackstone-Millville Chargers will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Southbridge will be strutting in after a win while Blackstone-Millville will be coming in after a loss.
Southbridge is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Murdock. Southbridge blew past Murdock 32-0 on the road last Friday. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Pioneers had established a 24 point advantage.
Southbridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Miguel Velasquez out in front who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Blackstone-Millville's offense. They were dealt a 35-0 defeat at the hands of Bellingham last Friday.
Blackstone-Millville's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Karson Cournoyer.
