Recap: Southern Wayne Saints vs. Fike Demons
After flying high against the Smithfield-Selma Spartans last Friday, The Southern Wayne Saints came back down to earth. Southern Wayne fell 21-14 to Fike on Friday. While losing is never fun, Southern Wayne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 286th, while Fike is ranked 115th).
Fike found their leader in underclassman Cameron Pittman, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only six carries, and also threw for 128 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Bud Woodard, who rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Southern Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Fike, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Southern Wayne will head out on the road to face off against C.B. Aycock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fike, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hunt at 7:00 p.m.
