Volleyball Recap: Thornwell Comes Up Short

Thornwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Abbeville Panthers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The final score came out to 25-14, 25-13, 25-8.

Reece Cummings paced Thornwell's offense, picking up four kills. Cummings got some help from Chloe Wilson and her six assists. Wilson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Thornwell now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Abbeville, their win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Thornwell is set to square off against their familiar foe Ware Shoals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Abbeville will take on rival Calhoun Falls Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
