They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat East Harrison [Ridgeway/Cainsville] 55-12 at home. Grundy County/Newtown-Harris' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Corbin Axtell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Zack Cross was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Mercer has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Grundy County/Newtown-Harris, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Mercer might still be hurting after the 70-48 defeat they got from Grundy County/Newtown-Harris in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mercer was down 41-19.
