Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Elmira's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

While Elmira didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11-2), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Creswell Bulldogs on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-5 win. Considering the Falcons have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Josey Robbins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Weston, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elmira kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.

Elmira has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Creswell, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmira will face off against Pleasant Hill at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Creswell, they will head out to take on Junction City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
