Baseball Recap: Northwest Catholic Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Northwest Catholic came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the East Hartford Hornets by a score of 5-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-4 back in April.

Jonah Balcerzak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

In other pitching news, Ben Hall looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Northwest Catholic is 5-2 when Hall allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-8 otherwise.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brennan Sautters, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Vincent, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Northwest Catholic's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Hartford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Northwest Catholic nor East Hartford have any future games scheduled.
