Basketball Recap: West Monona Comes Up Short

West Monona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 67-35 defeat at the hands of the Westwood Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while the Rebels are ranked 71st).

West Monona's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Westwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

West Monona will host Lawton-Bronson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westwood, they will square off against River Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westwood is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
