Softball Recap: Winamac's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Winamac dropped their record down to 16-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 7-2 to the Carroll Cougars. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Makayla Werner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Carroll, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

On Carroll's side, Emily Justice made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Justice has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madi Isley, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.

Looking ahead, Winamac will take on North Miami at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Carroll does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
