Basketball Recap: Ashley Falls Despite Big Games from Karissa Brady and Ellie Drummond

Ashley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 53-38 to the Vestaburg Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, with their most recent loss being a 60-41 defeat back in January.

Ellie Drummond and Karissa Brady certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Drummond posted 16 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Brady scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Brady a new career-high in assists (four).

Even though they lost, Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Vestaburg found their leader in sophomore Lily Johnston, who put up 23 points. The matchup was Johnston's third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Callie Bills, who earned nine points.

Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Vestaburg, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-13.

Ashley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vestaburg, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-26 defeat against Fowler on the 5th.
