Mendez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Michelle Leon led the charge by getting five aces, three kills, and 18 assists. Contreras took Robert F. Kennedy Community into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 20-25, 16-25, 25-14, 15-8.
Mendez pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Contreras, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
