Londonderry has gone 8-1 against Bedford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will host the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Londonderry has nine straight wins, Bedford has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Londonderry is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Hampshire's top teams: Goffstown, who was ranked 12th at the time (Londonderry was ranked first). The Lancers never let the Grizzlies get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory on Wednesday. Give the Lancers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Elizabeth Kearney was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ginny Flatherty was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Madison Normand, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Bedford's offense. They came up short against Concord on Monday, falling 13-0.
Londonderry's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Bedford, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Bedford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Londonderry hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Bedford, though, as they've only averaged .096. Will they be able to contain Londonderry's hitters?
Everything went Londonderry's way against Bedford when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Londonderry made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
