Basketball Recap: Natomas Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Reed last Friday, Natomas came back down to earth. The Natomas Nighthawks fell 67-54 to the Sacramento Dragons on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Nighthawks came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while the Dragons are ranked 524th).

Natomas' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Manno Jenkins, who went 7 of 16 en route to 20 points and three steals. The contest was Jenkins' 11th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alfred Wilkins, who posted 20 points and four steals.

Natomas' loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4. As for Sacramento, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Natomas will take on Willow Glen in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Willow Glen has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 173 points over their last three matchups. Sacramento and Oak Ridge will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Oak Ridge will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Sacramento surely won't give up without a fight.
