Piedmont Hills and Leland are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2016, but not for long. The Piedmont Hills Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Leland Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Piedmont Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Piedmont Hills took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 66-53 win over Prospect. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Armin Dhindsa, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonzo Johnson, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Leland came up short against Independence on Friday and fell 64-53. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the 76ers are ranked 322nd).

Leland's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Piedmont Hills, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Piedmont Hills came out on top in a nail-biter against Leland in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 50-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Piedmont Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
