Basketball Game Preview: Jal Panthers vs. Lovington Wildcats

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Jal Panthers duke it out with the Lovington Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday... Jal has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Jal is headed into the matchup having just posted their biggest win since January 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They blew past Tatum, posting a 65-36 victory.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lovington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Carlsbad by a score of 54-42 on Tuesday.

Jal better keep an eye on Kayle Covington. He was instrumental in Lovington's win, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Covington has scored at least a third of Lovington's points. Another player making a difference was Mika Pando, who posted 12 points.

Jal now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Lovington, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
