You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Newburgh Free Academy's strategy against Pine Bush on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Goldbacks blew the Bushmen out of the water with a 56-6 final score. Considering the Goldbacks have won six contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Despite the loss, Pine Bush still got an impressive performance from Ruben Simpson Jr, who rushed for 117 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 42 receiving yards.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Newburgh Free Academy, bringing their record up to 6-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.6 points over those games. As for Pine Bush, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Newburgh Free Academy will challenge Monroe-Woodbury at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crusaders' defense has only allowed 7.8 points per game this season, so the Goldbacks' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pine Bush, they will host Roosevelt at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
