Baseball Game Preview: Gardiner Tigers vs. Cony Rams

Gardiner is 1-9 against Cony since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Rams at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Gardiner turned things around against Leavitt on Friday. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 7-2.

Gardiner let Alex Roy and Jake Farnham run wild. Roy went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Farnham went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Roy has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Farnham, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Cony had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Monday. Everything went their way against the Lions as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Rams have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Cony pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Gardiner, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.

Gardiner skirted past Cony 5-4 when the teams last played back in May. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
