After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northridge, Valley was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Platte Valley Broncos 16-1. Considering the Vikings have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Valley got a massive performance out of Jasmin Gonzalez, who went 2-for-2 with a home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Gonzalez's launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Kamphaus, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Platte Valley only posted an OBP of .333.
Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Platte Valley, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
Valley will venture away from home to face off against University at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Platte Valley, they will take on Limon at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. Limon is coming into the contest with six straight losses on the road, meaning Platte Valley will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
