Basketball Recap: Springtown Porcupines vs. Bridgeport Bulls

The Springtown Porcupines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They suffered a tough 52-26 loss at the hands of Bridgeport. While losing is never fun, Springtown can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Bulls are ranked 170th).

When it comes to explaining why Springtown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Esther Balado. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 57.7% of Springtown's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Springtown has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-17 record this season. As for Bridgeport, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-10.

Springtown will head out on the road to take on the Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Castleberry comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last 12 games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Bridgeport, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Krum and the Bulls are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
