Langtree Charter Academy hasn't had much luck against Corvian Community recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Langtree Charter Academy Lions take on the Corvian Community Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. Langtree Charter Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Corvian Community likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Langtree Charter Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-59 to Bradford Prep.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jerel Brawley, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Gelpke, who made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points and six assists.
Meanwhile, Corvian Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by Cannon and fell 97-62.
Despite the loss, Corvian Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore RJ Moore went 11 of 21 on his way to 27 points and eight rebounds. That was a full 43.5% of Corvian Community's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxwell Garvin, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Corvian Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Corvian Community's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Langtree Charter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Langtree Charter Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 59.7 points per game. However, it's not like Corvian Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.8 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Langtree Charter Academy ended up a good deal behind Corvian Community in their previous meeting back in February, losing 60-41. Can Langtree Charter Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
