Basketball Recap: Chippewa Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hillsdale last Tuesday, Chippewa came back down to earth. The Chipps fell 48-40 to the Norwayne Bobcats on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Chipps in their meetings with the Bobcats: they've now lost four in a row.

Norwayne got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hannah Froelich out in front who posted eight points and 14 boards. Froelich is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ava Maibach was another key player, shooting 54% from the field to rack up 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds.

Chippewa's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Norwayne, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Chippewa will square off against Elyria Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Norwayne, they will take on Smithville at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th.
