Top-ranked Panthers seek second consecutive 7A state title after a 24-3 finish in 2021.

The 2021-22 high school basketball season in Florida tips off this week and MaxPreps has your look at the state's top teams. Coming off a 24-3 campaign last winter, Dr. Phillips owns the No. 1 spot in our preseason rankings.

The Panthers begin the season ranked No. 8 nationally after capturing the program's first Class 7A state title last season. Dr. Phillips is a heavy favorite to repeat behind seniors Ernest Udeh Jr. (Kansas commit), Denzel Aberdeen (Florida) and Riley Kugel (Mississippi State).

Additional defending state champions include Bartow (6A), Pembroke Pines Charter (5A), Pine Crest (4A), Calvary Christian Academy (3A), Orlando Christian Prep (2A) and Wildwood. Three of those schools appear in the Preseason MaxPreps Top 25.
Florida commit Denzel Aberdeen looks to lead Dr. Phillips to back-to-back state titles.
