Softball Recap: Walton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Walton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Altha Wildcats 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Braves have posted since April 2, 2024.

Raina Pitts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Mackenzie Peels was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

The win got Walton back to even at 1-1. As for Altha, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walton will host Cottondale at 6:30 p.m. on February 21st. As for Altha, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Wewahitchka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
