Basketball Recap: Ridgeview Takes a Loss

After flying high against Clay last Friday, Ridgeview came back down to earth. The Ridgeview Panthers were dealt a 65-31 loss at the hands of the Providence School Stallions on Monday. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Ridgeview lost, don't look at Narissa Blocton. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 11 on her way to 12 points. That was a full 38.7% of Ridgeview's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Providence School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Loux out in front who shot 7-for-12 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine assists. Those 27 points gave Loux a new career-high. Kasey Davey was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Ridgeview's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Providence School, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Ridgeview wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-28 victory against Baldwin on the 10th. As for Providence School, they will square off against Bartram Trail at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
