Baseball Recap: Selinsgrove Comes Up Short

Selinsgrove was the 12-1 winner over Midd-West when they last played one another back in May of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Seals fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-8 on Monday. The Seals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jonathan Neidig and Griffin Parker did some serious damage despite the final result: Neidig went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Parker went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Parker is becoming a predictor of Selinsgrove's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jayden Beaver, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Selinsgrove's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Midd-West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Selinsgrove will square off against Mifflinburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Seals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Midd-West, they will challenge Lewisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Dragons have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
