Football Recap: Barnegat Piles Up the Points Against Lakewood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Barnegat). They blew past the Lakewood Piners, posting a 49-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bengals in their matchups with the Piners: they've now won five in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Jack Haviland, who rushed for 46 yards and one score, and also threw for 52 yards and a pair of touchdowns on perfect 5-for-5 passing. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (168.3). Ryan Fitzpatrick was another key player, rushing for 44 yards and two TDs.

Barnegat's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-2. As for Lakewood, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Barnegat will take on Freehold Township at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lakewood, they will challenge New Egypt at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
