League recap: Serra gets lift from Sterling's big bat

West Catholic league recap: 5/22/13

Neil Sterling was on fire this week, as he led West Catholic with a .833 average, two home runs and eight RBIs. Meanwhile, Serra put together a 2-0 week.

Justin Calomeni was the best pitcher in the league this week, leading Bellarmine. He racked up eight strike outs this week.

Although the Bells surrendered only one walk this week, the lowest number in the league over that span, Valley Christian is still tops for the season with just 57 walks over 195 innings this year.

13 batters hit over .400 this week. They were led by Neil Sterling, who hit .833 this week (5-for-6).

The most RBI in the league this week belonged to the Padres' Sterling, who drove in eight. He now stands at 28 RBIs on the season, which puts him second in the league.



Michael Strem led St. Francis to a win on May 15, as he notched eight strikeouts to beat Monta Vista, 2-0. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed zero runs on zero hits.
