Softball Recap: Northeast Jones' Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Northeast Jones waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the Seminary Bulldogs. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 7-1 win the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2016.

Ty'Kerria Caballero was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Caballero was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Taylor Landrum was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Kylinn Vice also deserves some recognition as she stolen her first stolen bases of the season.

Northeast Jones was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.

Northeast Jones' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Seminary, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Northeast Jones will face off against Mize at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeast Jones' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Mize's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Seminary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moss Point at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
