Basketball Recap: West Carteret Takes a Loss

West Carteret suffered their biggest loss since January 8th on Tuesday. They came up short against the Swansboro Pirates, falling 64-44. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Patriots' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Despite the loss, West Carteret still got an impressive performance from Jack Bell, who posted 21 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Bell a new career-high in rebounds. Jejuan Tripp was another key player, putting up seven points and five boards.

Even though they lost, West Carteret smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Swansboro's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayvion Tangiora, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds. Tangiora is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonah Holt, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 17 points along with six boards and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for West Carteret and nudges their season record down to 11-7. As for Swansboro, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 20th straight on the road dating back to last season.

West Carteret wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-77 win against Croatan on the 14th. As for Swansboro, they have also already played their next contest, an 85-64 victory against White Oak on the 14th.
