Softball Game Preview: Bryan Golden Bears vs. Lincolnview Lancers

The Bryan Golden Bears will take on the Lincolnview Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Bryan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Bryan's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Otsego 2-0.

Otsego's batters probably weren't too happy with Thea Staten, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Staten has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bryan's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Slagel, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Lincolnview waltzed into their match on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Panthers.

Lincolnview pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Bryan, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
