Softball Recap: 15 Straight Home Victories for Cathedral

Cathedral put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Silver Creek Dragons a 10-0 shutout. The Fighting Irish have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Dragons, too.

Cathedral let Angie Valentine and Amya Gary run wild. Valentine went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Gary scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits Gary has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lauren Wright, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Cathedral kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Cathedral's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Silver Creek, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Cathedral has already played their next match, a 17-1 win against Bishop Watterson on the 12th. As for Silver Creek, they will square off against Eastern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
