Softball Recap: Cleveland Victorious

Cleveland's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the West Point Warriors 9-8.

Patelyn Battles was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Ella Thomas was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savana Delgado, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Cleveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cleveland's win bumped their record up to 14-21. As for West Point, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-19.

Cleveland has already played their next matchup (against Spring Garden), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West Point, they will challenge Cullman at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
