Softball Game Preview: Johnsburg Skyhawks vs. Marengo Indians

Johnsburg is 2-8 against Marengo since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Skyhawks will challenge the Indians at 4:30 p.m.

Johnsburg is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Woodstock North.

Joree Tibbs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Johnsburg saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Braun, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Marengo entered their tilt with Huntley on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Red Raiders 4-2.

Marengo pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Johnsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Johnsburg might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Marengo when the teams last played back in April. Can the Skyhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
