Softball Recap: Forest Park Comes Up Short

Forest Park extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-7 in the process. They came up short against the Loogootee Lions, falling 14-4. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 12-7 to the Lions when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Claire Warren was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Sydney Bettag was another key player, earning one run and three stolen bases.

As for Loogootee, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games.

On Loogootee's side, Ashley Green spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. Green has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jadaya Farhar was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jocelynn Sims, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Coming up, Forest Park will take on Wood Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Rangers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Loogootee, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Evansville Reitz at 12:15 p.m. on May 10.
