Basketball Recap: Hull-Daisetta Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Hull-Daisetta challenged Wheatley on Saturday. The Hull-Daisetta Bobcats were outmatched by the Wheatley Wildcats and fell 70-31. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1464th, while the Wildcats are ranked 432nd).

Jamie Solomon continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wheatley, dropping a double-double on 34 points and ten assists. Solomon is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Symone Johnson was another key player, going 6 for 14 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Hull-Daisetta's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Wheatley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hull-Daisetta will take on Leggett at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheatley, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Kashmere at 7:15 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
