Baseball Recap: Cypress Springs Find Success

Cypress Springs took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Paetow, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Cypress Springs had just enough and edged out Paetow 3-1. For Cypress Springs, this counts as revenge for the 12-2 victory Paetow walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2021.

Ashton Meador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Jayvn Mitchell was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Danny Villarreal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Cypress Springs and bumps their season record up to 4-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Paetow, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, Cypress Springs will take on Fort Bend Elkins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Paetow, they will square off against Waller at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
