Preview: Walden Grove Red Wolves vs. Canyon del Oro Dorados
The Walden Grove Red Wolves will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Canyon del Oro Dorados at 7:00 p.m. on December 4th. Canyon del Oro took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Walden Grove, who comes in off a win.
Last Thursday, Walden Grove made easy work of Empire and carried off a 70-50 win.
It was another big night for Ashton Romney, who scored 23 points. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Walden Grove's points. Davareo Hill was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Canyon del Oro's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were the victim of a rough 69-43 loss at the hands of Mica Mountain. While losing is never fun, Canyon del Oro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Mica Mountain is ranked fifth).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Will Dixion, who scored 10 points. The game was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Lujan, who scored 10 points.
The losses dropped Walden Grove to 2-4 and Empire to 5-2.
Walden Grove came up short against Canyon del Oro when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 66-58. Can Walden Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
