Football Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Warrior Run Defenders

The Troy Trojans will head out on the road to take on the Warrior Run Defenders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Troy sitting on nine straight wins and Warrior Run on seven.

If Troy beats Warrior Run with 49 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Trojans took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 49-8 victory over Wellsboro. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine games by 29 points or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Warrior Run had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Mountaineers 41-7. The Defenders are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth contest they've won by 20+ points this season.

Troy better keep an eye on Maxwell Fogelman. He was instrumental in Warrior Run's win, picking up 60 receiving yards and a pair of scores, while also rushing for 74 yards and one TD on only five carries. Fogelman's longest rush was for an impressive 68 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was James Keifer, who threw for 144 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes.

Troy's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Warrior Run, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-1.

Everything came up roses for Troy against Warrior Run in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
