Basketball Recap: Umatilla Takes a Loss

Umatilla lost against East Ridge on December 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Umatilla Bulldogs fell 61-49 to the East Ridge Knights. The match marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

East Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Joehill led the charge by going 9 of 15 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Estevaz, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds.

Umatilla's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for East Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-8.

Umatilla and Osceola will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th. As for East Ridge, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Space Coast at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. East Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Space Coast likes a good challenge.
