Volleyball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

Southside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Anthony Yellowjackets. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Katie Camarillo paced Southside's offense, picking up nine kills. Camarillo got some help from Gabriella Gallindo and her 23 assists. Justinne Padilla controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for St. Anthony, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southside will challenge Southwest Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give the Cardinals their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for St. Anthony, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Holy Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
