Baseball Recap: Melba Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

Melba lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Parma, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Mustangs never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Wednesday. This was a revenge game for the Mustangs: when they faced off against the Panthers two weeks ago, they had to take a 3-1 loss.

Mike Lester made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cooper Brooks, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kelton Bodily, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases.

Melba is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Parma, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melba will venture away from home to challenge Marsing at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Parma, they will challenge Vision at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Parma is facing Vision at the right time seeing as Vision is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
