Football Recap: Aloalii (AJ) Lealofi's Menacing Defense Leads Barstow over Victor Valley

Barstow won the last time they faced Victor Valley and Nicholas Gaoa did his part to make sure it happened again. The Aztecs took down the Jackrabbits 21-7 on Friday with plenty of help from Gaoa, who rushed for 222 yards and two TDs. Barstow is 2-1 when Gaoa posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-2-1 otherwise.

Barstow didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aloalii (AJ) Lealofi.

Barstow is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.8 points on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Victor Valley fell to 5-1.

Barstow will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Silverado at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Victor Valley, they will head out to challenge Granite Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Robert Middlebrooks and Aamir Sneed.
