Brookline faced Newton North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Warriors fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Brookline sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 26-28, 25-23, 20-25, 15-13.

Emilie Ferdinand paced Brookline's offense, picking up 14 kills. Ferdinand got some help from Nora Mullen and her 41 assists. Noga Naveh controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Alayna Oconnell was nothing short of spectacular for Newton North: she had 21 digs and seven assists. Those seven assists gave Oconnell a new career-high.

Brookline's loss dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Newton North, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-2.

Brookline didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Framingham on the 23rd. As for Newton North, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Weymouth on the 22nd.
