Basketball Game Preview: Meridian Trojans vs. Mt. Baker Mountaineers

The Meridian Trojans will head out on the road to square off against the Mt. Baker Mountaineers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Meridian is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest loss since February 16, 2024 on Saturday. They took a blow against Burlington-Edison, falling 72-40. The Trojans' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Baker). They simply couldn't be stopped last Monday as they easily beat Granite Falls 60-19. Given the Mountaineers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Tigers are ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Baker's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.

Meridian beat Mt. Baker 38-25 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Meridian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
