The Sebastian River Sharks are taking a road trip to face off against the Vero Beach Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Sebastian River was able to grind out a solid victory over Central, taking the game 13-8.

Kiera Carow and Abigail Bowie-Whitsett were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Carow struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Bowie-Whitsett pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. At the plate, Carow got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three runs, while Bowie-Whitsett scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That home run marked the first that Carow launched this season.
In other batting news, Rily Biggers was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Smith, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Sebastian River hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Vero Beach made easy work of Port St. Lucie on Wednesday and carried off a 19-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won six in a row.
Taylor Stevens made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Stevens was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Trinity Bishop and Lilly Sims did most of the damage at the plate: Bishop scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Sims scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kylie Williams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
The win got Vero Beach back to even at 8-8. As for Sebastian River, their record is now 11-8.
Vero Beach's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sebastian River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .482. It's a different story for Vero Beach, though, as they've only averaged .352. Will they be able to contain Sebastian River's hitters?
Sebastian River couldn't quite finish off Vero Beach in their previous matchup back in March and fell 5-3. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
